Born in Indianapolis, Indiana and raised in Daytona Beach, Florida, Darren Dowler has been on or around the stage most of his life. As an actor he has worked on television, film, and stage, making his Broadway debut at 25. Musically he's worked with with legendary names including The Righteous Brothers (Bill Medley), Paul Revere and the Raiders, two groups he still performs with, as well as The Backstreet Boys (as their first live guitarist), The Lettermen, The Beach Boys (Al Jardine), The Jordanaires, who he accompanied by performing the Elvis Presley vocal parts for their Vocal Group Hall of Fame induction (of which Dowler is also an inductee) and many more. Upon seeing Star Wars and Jaws as a small child, Dowler knew he wanted to be an actor and filmmaker and has pursued that goal since. Wanting to follow the paths of artists like Welles and Eastwood, Dowler has always wanted to utilize his writing, directing, acting and musical skills and has found filmmaking the perfect palette. In Rock and Roll the Movie he is not only starring, but is also the screenwriter, director, is writing all of the music, including the entire score, and editor of the film. Recently he starred in and co-directed the feature film Christmas In Hollywood, and in the past appeared in the blockbusters Hancock starring Will Smith, Jason Bateman and Charlize Thieron and Eagle Eye starring Billy Bob Thornton, Shia Lebeouf and Michelle Monahan. Dolwer also starred in Fearless--an extreme outdoor-sporting show for the MSN network and appeared in the sitcom - Cavemen. Upcoming film projects include another off the wall comedy, an intense drama about a dark, comic book style vigilante-hero, and a horror/suspense project where he'll play an excorcist.
